Weekend highlights

This weekend my brother and his wife came for a visit. It was soooo much fun! Per usual. :)

On Saturday we visited a state park. Some of the highlights:

Geocaching. Nuff said.

Weird water bug things that look like sticks.

Frogs that stay underwater for an unbelievable amount of time.

Snapping pics of each other at the same time.

Neon colors.

An epic tree.

These:

Making an impromptu marching band with aforementioned plants. Blowing across the hollow stems, as you would blow across a glass bottle. Makes a great little whistle! :)

This view:

Photo-bombing done by brother's sunglasses.

This:

 Big skies.

Fluffy milkweed seedpods.

Magical looking birch trees.

A gigantic geocache! It was a trunk, well guarded with thorns. Yeowy.

Finding this. Pretty sure it's an elvish throne.

Finding a twisty hollow tree.

"Truffula fluff!"
No idea what it actually is, but it's pretty sweet. :)

And on Sunday, one of the highlights was disc golfing with my sil. It's so nice to have a fellow disliker-of-football to do something with while everyone else sits in front of the tube. Love ya, sil! :)

I love the satisfying clink of a Frisbee in the basket.

Little orange friends, paying you a hurried visit at the golf course before going on their way.

Random dudes who ask you why you have cameras along while disc golfing.
"Just for fun," we say.
"Oh. So, like for class or something?"
"No, nope. Just for fun."
"Oh. They're big cameras."
"Yup."

And awkwardly walking away.
Good times.

And lastly, cool shadows!

What were some of your weekend highlights?

Seven random things

Recently iGirl tagged me in this post. So I have to write 7 random things about myself! Things that most people wouldn't know...
This is gonna be fun. I feel it in me bones!

1. My hair used to be super straight. Like, sometimes it looked like I straightened it. And around Christmas last year ... my hair decided to get curly. And it's curly to this day. Not even kidding. (Quick side note: my oldest brother's hair used to be curly ... and is now straight. Seriously, not kidding.)

2. I ate seaweed salad on my birthday. With chopsticks. Willingly, and of my own accord. I honestly didn't like the flavor or texture that much, but I kinda really loved it anyways. Why? Because I adore trying new things. And maybe cuz I like the bragging rights a bit, too. ;)

3. I have never sent a text message.

*CoughCough* Moving on ... as I'm sure you all were quite shocked by that one. *Ahem*

4. I would often rather eat vegetables than ice cream.

Oh, snap. I keep shocking you guys. Sorry! OK, ummm ...

5. When I have orange juice, I often want to eat black licorice with it. Don't ask me why. That's just the way it is.

6. I peel grapefruit. Like an orange. Except I also take of the clear skin that encloses each section. Tastes soooo good that way!

7. When I was super little, I had a nightmare. In my nightmare, there were a bunch of bears carrying torches. And they walked down the long hallway in our [old] house, coming to eat us. And for about a year after that dream, I would run down that hallway so the bears couldn't get me.

That is all. :)

P.S. Feel free to write random stuff about yourself in the comments. I'd love to hear! :D

Mustache car

Just in case you have a suspicious mind and thought my imagination got the better of me in my last post ...

KABOOM!

Proof of the mustache car!!
Is this not epic?? Oh yes, this is epic.
Btw, we paid a special visit to this car, just to get a picture.
OK, who am I kidding? I would have visited it just for the sake of basking in its epicness, and perhaps laughing too, but my practical brother told me to bring a camera. :)

A photo an hour ... more or less.

Yesterday I took a photo an hour. Sort of. A few of the hours demanded more than one photo. Some hours were rather dull, so I had to go out looking for things to photograph. And by the end I was tired of it, so the photos got a little boring. My apologies. :)

10:00 a.m.
Elssa in the morning sun.

11:00 a.m.
Breakfast. Hey, don't judge me! I don't get hungry until like, one in the afternoon. So eating at all before lunch-time is something rather unheard of.
Btw, that book is something I'm reading for school. And btw again, that's nutella and coffee. Oh, yeaahh.

12:00 p.m.
Harvesting our grapes. Oh. Yummage.

1:00 p.m.
Studying and taking a biology test in the sun. Oh, how I love being home-schooled (!).

2:00 p.m.
Lunch. In case you haven't noticed, my eating habits/times are a bit messed up. But I like it that way. :)
(It's homemade chicken wild rice soup, in case you were wondering.)

2:00 p.m. (again)
Trader Joe's all natural gummy bears. Oh, yes. They help me get through Algebra. And I love them.

3:00 p.m.
Done with school. Don't know what to photograph, so I pick some flowers. Because they're predday!

4:00 p.m.
Editing photos for Turning Pro. That's my brother's business. He makes awesome stuff out of wood! I photograph the stuff and put it on Etsy, as well as keep his blog and facebook updated.
He pays me. :)
Here's his/our shop: www.turningpro.etsy.com

(The photo is of a wooden ring, btw.)

5:00 p.m.
Conditioning class at Camria Ballet Academy, which is pretty much one of my most favorite places in the history of ever.
This class is extremely painful, though! Tons of strengthening exercises, balance exercises, cardio, stretching, etc.
Let's just say it took me three days to recover from class last week...

Also, one other thing to say about this pic. I had to use our awful point and shoot camera, so the photo was horrible. So what's a girl to do?
Photoshop it to look like a Polaroid and call it artistic, of course!
Btw, this water bottle was my dear and faithful friend in my time of need.

6:00 p.m.
Tap class. Right after conditioning. Hello, jello-muscles!

I just started tap this year, and, well. It's confusing. They go so fast! I only know a couple of the steps. So my teacher says, "Do a double buffalo, blah blah blah, ball change, riffle, blah blah blah, shuffle, heel, toe, heel, blah blah blah." And Inna goes, "Whaaaa ... ?" *Blinkblink* And then Inna proceeds to stomp around ungracefully pretending to do the steps. Or else she stands still and scratches her head, while the extremely talented people show off in front of her.
Or else she does the steps painfully slow, taking 2 minutes to do what should take about 15 seconds.
Yeaaaahhh.

I love it. :D

7:00 on the way home.

7:00 p.m. (again)
Homemade bread. I think there's something wrong here ...

8:00 p.m.
Hot tea in my favorite cup. Not shown: a nectarine, popcorn and a movie. Resting my dance-weary muscles!

And that's where I was completely done with my photo an hour thing. Done. Just done. No more, I say!

So, what did you do yesterday?

P.S. I did a guest post over at Punk Projects, you can see it here!

Favorite randoms #3

I know, I know. I haven't blogged in forever. Oops. ;)

So, when I don't know what to post about, I do this. I find random stuff online and post those pics. :)
I've actually only done this twice before. You can see #1 here, and #2 here.

So here we go! Favorite randoms #3.

A clothespin chandalier! Yes please.

This painting is so. cute.

I would be laughing too. :)

I found a really funny site full of "Bookfessions", and kinda got distracted. Because I relate to a lot of them. So I had to post five. :D

Why do the expected? Paint outside the lines.

Beautiful ballet slippers.

So there ya go. Some of my favorite things that I've found recently! Which ones do you like?
