Angry Birds

Have you ever played Angry Birds? It's an app and you can play it on iPads and iPhones etc.
My oldest brother has an iPad, and we played Angry Birds on it together during Christmas. His wife thought it was a super funny game (because it is. :), and so when I saw this tutorial, I knew I had to make my sis-in-law an Angry Bird plushie!!
If you've played the game, you'll probably find this extremely amusing, and if not ... who knows. :)

When my sil opened her present she just cracked up!! We started throwing it at eachother and making sound-effects like in the game. It was great. :)

He's just so angry! I love it. Hehe!

Why is it that angry plushies are cute, but angry people just look creepy?? :-P

EPIC drawing game!!

OK ya'll, have you ever played the drawing game? Just in case you haven't, I'll tell you about it.
The first person draws a hat, and then folds it back so all you can see is the veeerrrryyy bottom of the hat.
Then you pass the paper and the next person draws a face and neck, folds it back so you can just see the bottom of the neck. Pass it on, draw a shirt, pass it on, draw pants/skirt, pass it on, draw shoes/feet.
Open the paper and laugh hysterically. It's in the rulebook. ;)

So anyway, one of my friends (find her personal blog here, and her blog of inner beauty here) and I played this game the other night. And uh, well. Yeah.
See for yourself. :D

After a couple, my brother decided to play. I was pretty impressed, cuz he's not really into drawing. Wood working is his thing.

Epic hat much? :)

My bro drew the below hat ... gun included. Typical guy. Which isn't a bad thing. ;)

Okay. I've saved the stupidest best for last! (I suggest you brace yourselves)

Bahahahaha!! Oh, boy. Wheeee! My friend and I laughed so much at this one that we could hardly breathe!
Sheepers. :)
And after playing a few more ridiculous, laughable games, well ... let's just say we were in slight pain. Of the face and abdominal variety.

After which I wheezed, "I think I've sprained my laugher!"
Which, of course, my friend found highly amusing, therefore compelling me to injure my laugher even further.
:)

Uh ...

"Ummm ... Inna? Did you just ... no. I mean, wait. *blink blink* Did you really just do what I think you did?"

"What? Did I just paint a rat and a rat hole onto our stairs?
Oh, yes. Yes I did."
:D

Don't worry. I had permission from me mother. I must say, I love having a mother with a weird sense of humor, like myself. :)

Bahahahaha!

*Ahem*
Sorry. Easily ammused. :)

I don't know why, but I find this hilarious and adorable. *snicker*

Purpose

Lately I've been kinda thinking about purposes. What is the purpose of this blog? What is my purpose in the world? Yeah, I know. Kinda cheesy sounding, but hey. ;)
Anywhos, after vaguely thinking about theses things, I opened my Bible and found this verse:

"The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me."
Psalm 138:8
NIV 1984

Baby monster

Last week I made a mini monster using this tutorial.
Isn't she cute? :)

Before & After: socks to fingerless mittens!

Last week was my friend Selah's birthday!
She has a cool sense of style, so I knew I had to make her something pretty sweet! ;)

I basically used this tutorial, but I did change it up a bit.

First I cut the socks up into sections like this:

Then I cut down the side of each section so it became a long strip.

I then hemmed the piece that would become the top of the mitten, just cuz I didn't really want any raw edges.

Then I started sewing the pieces together! I sewed the long sides together, and I stitched them "ugly sides together". That way when I unfolded them, the stitching and edges would show on the outside, which I liked.
Also at this point I left a hole for the thumb.

After that I folded them inside out and sewed a long seam all along the side of the mitten. After turning it right side out, it was done!
(Sorry I don't have more pics of the process. If you're confused, check out the link. I did do it a bit differently, but you'll get the idea. :)

My friend Selah loved them! Here she is modeling them for me. :)

Enough pictures already! Yeah, I sortta took thirty some pics. I was having too much fun. :)

Bubbles

I love this picture. The reflection of a rounded world, the mountain of snow, the sun flare behind my friend, trees growing downwards from the multi-hued sky.

Melting!

The last two days have been so beautiful! Almost fifty degrees yesterday! o_O
The heaps and heaps of snow have finally started melting!
(I spy grass! Eep!)

Splashing in puddles for the first time this year! :D

The boots were a bit much though ... so I broke out the flip flops!
That clicking on my heals felt so so good.

Grass between my toes for the first time in approximately four months. *Happy sigh*

(Did I just take my shoes off in February?? Oh, yes. Yes I did.)

Sunshine. Nuff said.

Self portraits:

Water was dripping off the roof. It sounded and looked so beautiful.

I put my sisters mega zoom lense on her camera to get a pic of the moon.

Love this picture of snow melting on the shingles!!

Those pictures were from yesterday, and today I snapped a few more.
The moon again:

And as the evening closed, the puddles started icing over again. But I hope they will turn into liquid again as soon as the sun comes out!

A ball & egg penguins ... :)

I had such a ball yesterday! Cuz I went to a ball.
Heh! I'm so punny. ;)
No, that's punny, not puny. There's a difference.
And yes, we really did go to a ball!
Some of our friends hosted it at their place. There must have been around a hundred people there, and every one of them was all dressed up!
We did the Virginia Reel, Scottish Polka, Pattycake Polka, Waltz, and Posties (favorite!!).  I can't even tell you how much fun it was.
A HUGE thank you to the family who hosted it (you know who you are.)
But, alas, I have no photographs of this delightful occasion (tragic, really). And seeing as no matter how much I gush about it, you won't understand how much fun it was (unless you were there) I've decided to show you the hors d'oeuvres we brought! Because I do have pictures of those. :)

Hard boiled egg penguins! Aren't they cute?

DIY:
Cut a baby carrot in half for the feet. Put one baby carrot into an olive for the head, cut one olive in half for the wings. Attach everything with bits of toothpick.
Just don't eat the toothpicks by accident. :)

And a headless penguin. Just cuz. ;)

Olive oil + water + food coloring

I was looking at one of the blogs I follow (here) and found this really cool idea for pictures! You basically mix food coloring in water, and then drop bits of olive oil in it. It makes such cool patterns!

One of my friends swirled the plate around while I clicked to get this pic. :)

Making pretzels

Today we made pretzels for the first time!
This is the first pretzel I have ever "tied". Ever. (Before baking.) Aren't you impressed? ;)

Here's how to do it:
First roll the dough into long snaky strips.

Then take one and cross it over as shown.

Wrap it around once.

Fold it down.

Then we dipped it in a weird mixture of water, egg whites, and baking soda.
Slimy. ;)

Sprinkle on a little salt, and they're ready to bake!

Mmmm. :)

Have you tried anything new lately?

The most epic garbage can you ever did see.

What do you get when you cut magazines into strips, and glue the strips into circles? Lots and lots of circles, which you then glue together?
You get an epic garbage can, that's what! :)

I was rather too lazy to put in a bottom, but hey. Who needs a bottom if you put a bag in it??

I had some fun picking the bits of magazine that would show. For example, my mom is an editor for a magazine in town, and therefore she gets her pic in it. So I made sure to use a piece of magazine with my mom on it!
She still hasn't decided if it's a complement or not to be in my epic garbage can.
I can't blame her. ;)
Here she is:

I also took the opportunity to put in a cool memory.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came to our town a while back, and I got to walk over and watch the progress almost every day. And I managed to take some pics of the family and Ty Pennington.
And a few of my pics managed to get in the magazine my mom edits. :)
So, I added the pic of Ty that I took into my garbage can:

So there it is; "my garbage can made out of garbage."

Ok, so magazines aren't zactly garbage, but hey. Close enough, right?
