Brace Freedom Day!

Today something BIG happened.
...
I got my braces off!
:D

Before:

After!

This is in the car this morning, heading to the Orthodontist. And yes, I had rainbow colored braces. :)

As soon as I sat down, the lady started snapping the braces off! I seriously didn't even know she was doing it until some of them were off already, it went so fast. Then they sanded off the glue left on my teeth with one of those drill things. It felt like a jack-hammer was going off inside my brain.

And then we had a party! Noise makers, maracas, confetti poppers, balloons, a bag of candy and treats which I'm allowed to eat again (even though I never really stopped. Shhh. Don't tell.), and pictures!

The lovely people who gave me a pretty smile:

These guys are so awesome. I know some kids hate going to the ortho, but not me!

Eating lunch was a pleasure today ... because food didn't get stuck in my teeth!
When we got home, I took some victory pictures in the back yard. Some of them even made it into the new header!

Tonight I plan on stuffing my face with popcorn. A whole GIANT bowl full, all for my lonesome. My mummy promised it to me a few months ago. :)

Btw, if you have braces, keep it up and never fear! Braces are totally worth it.
Note that the "totally" is bold, underlined, AND italicised. Good stuff!

And if you don't have braces ... do me a favor an enjoy some popcorn today. Or an apple. Or corn on the cob. Or sticky food. And run your tongue over your teeth and feel how smooth they are. And love how easy it is to slide floss between your teeth! Seriously, flossing with braces on? Major pain.

Enjoy the little things, ya'll! You'd miss 'em if you didn't have 'em.

Happy day, everyone!

Closet door makeovah!

So, silly me, I lost the "before" pictures. Arg. So just imagine it with me here. Imagine a plain ol' closet door. It's white. And it has all kinds of drawings and photos pasted onto it, hap-hazard.
There. Now you got the "before".
And here's the after!

But wait! It's a little more interesting than first appears.

First of all, I painted it with metallic paint. And that is basically paint that has tiny bits of metal in it. Which means ...
you can stick magnets to it!!

I love magnetic poetry. :) That was the most poetic one I made. Most of them are more along these lines:

"Oh, us are mad," her said. "Am he too?"

And then we have this pin board I made. I just took two pieces of cardboard, covered them with cloth and used duct tape to secure it. :) Shhhhh! Don't tell.

Close-ups of the pin board:

A photo I took while riding on Knightly, my friends horse. And a pic of my beautiful Pepper. I miss you, babe.

I love this verse. "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young."
I'm young, and I know there are tons of things I don't know about. But that doesn't mean I have to just sit around waiting to get older! God can use me for something big. I just hope I'll have the courage to actually do it.

This is an owl I made using my grandma's typewriter! It's kinda hard to see, but the wings are made out of v's, the other feathers are u's, eyes are o's, etc.

This fortune has a funny story behind it. It's kinda one of those "ya had to be there" moments, but I'll tell you anyways. ;)
One of my friends and I were walking home from ice skating early this spring, and we were wondering if it would be too crazy to walk all the way to the Dairy Queen in the cold weather. Then we looked down and saw this! "Don't just think, act!" So we burst out laughing, and went to Dairy Queen. :D
That has kinda become my motto this summer. Last summer I had all kinds of plans, but never really did any of them. I'm trying to make this summer more exciting!

A cool leaf I found.

A two dollar bill, two four leafed clovers, a five leafed clover, a pic of me and Pepper, and a bus ticket.

Dr. Seuss. :)
And "Don't forget to be awesome." Very important, that.

That's it for the pin board, but there's one more element I have to show you about the closet door. I call it, "Sharpie attacks door."
Nice, eh?
:)

Have you been doing anything crazy this summer?

Freezed goodness

Dear ya'll,
I dreamed of summer, sunshine, freedom from school and green gardens for months this winter.
Well, guess whatty?
*whispers*
this is it.

We're smack-dab in the middle of summer.
So let's make some summerish things happen, instead of just sitting in front of the computer! (I'm looking at you, Inna)

One of my favorite summery things:

Freezy frozen icy freezed grapes.
What a delicious mouth-full that sentence was.
Mmmmm.

Seriously, if you've never frozen grapes ... do it now.
Somehow the flavor of the grapes seems to change ... they seem to get sweeter and tangier and yummier.
If you freeze them overnight, they don't freeze solid. It's like they're frozen, but softish.
Yeah, OK. My descriptions do it no justice. So just do it and see for yourself. :)

What are some of your favorite summer things?

Fork Bangle

Today I bought four pieces of silverware at the Salvation Army. 5 cents apiece. I'm pretty sure they were wondering what in the world a teen girl was doin' buying used silverware. :)
Are you wonderin' too?

Well, OK ... I'll show you.

Cuz I'm nice like that. :-P

Yup, an epic bangle for 5 cents! And people think they have to spend a fortune on jewelry! Hmph.

Oh, and if you want to make your own, it's pretty simple. Just buy an old fork that's kinda bendable and bend it! It's a bit harder than it sounds, but you'll figure it out. Bend it around something round, and use your muscles. With a bit of fiddling it should work!

Turning Pro!!

Guess what ya'll?? My bro is starting a business called Turning Pro! Crazy crazy. Why? Cuz now all my siblings have either a.) gotten married, b.) graduated from college, c.) started their own business, or d.) all three, in the case of my oldest brother.
And then there's me. Woof. It's rather interesting being the youngest sometimes ... but mostly a very good kind of interesting. :)

Anyways. You should check out my younger-of-the-two-brother's new business! He makes crazy cool stuff out of wood:

Feel free to comment on any of his stuff, favorite on Etsy, like on Facebook ... or not. Whatevah you feel like. Just don't be shy. ;)

Of multi leafed clovers and inside out letters.

Today I met with one of my lovely and awesome friends and we went for a super fun picnic together! Sometime between my bites of sandwich and sips of cold root beer, I happened to look down. And I saw this:

I picked it and showed my friend. "I'm always finding four leafed clovers!" I said. It's a true story. I almost never actually look for them, but I frequently just notice them.

I just notice a lot of stuff.

I like it. :)

Later, as we pushed our bikes through the grass, said lovely friend was looking at the ground. "I think I should find a four leafed clover now," she said.
"Well, it's your turn," I answered. And then I glanced down. And saw this:

A five leafed clover. You may not believe me, but I've found one of these before. The other one also had a mini fifth leaf. Strange.
I plucked it, and showed my friend with a grin. Now it really was her turn. She started searching harder.
I looked down.
And not even kidding,
 I saw this:

:D
I picked this one, and held it out to my friend. We both burst out laughing. :D
It was awesome.

Oh, and my friend? She found her four leafed clover. I don't have a pic, unfortunately, but at least the story has a happy ending. :)

When I got home I found that I had gotten a letter from another of my awesome friends.
I had sent her a letter a while ago, and told her that writing on normal paper was boring, and therefore I wrote the whole letter on paint chips.
She responded with this.

Behold the envelope of paper:

And the letter of envelope.

Hahahaha! Oh, the awesomeness just kills me. Who'd a thunk? An inside out letter!!
I literally laughed when I saw it, and then went around telling random family members that I have the awesomest friends ever.

All in all, I'd say today was a pretty good day.

How was yours?
